概要

アルゴリズムによる均質化が進む現代において、「周縁」から思考し、創造することにはどのような意味があるだろうか。一連の展覧会・ワークショップ・トークでは、メディアアート、工芸、DIYの実践を結びつけ、テクノロジーがいかに複数の歴史と絡み合いながら形成され、それぞれの地でいかに経験・再解釈・再構築されているのかを考察する。キプロスと日本を拠点とする実践者たちが、一見共通点のなさそうな両国の（ポスト）コロニアルな類似性を探りながら、様々な二項対立から抜け出しうる「どこでもないどこか」を探求する。

小樽の北運河地区には、人や物、産業の移動が残した数多くの「跡」が存在する。使われなくなった鉄道路線、倉庫群、港湾施設。こうした痕跡は、海を介して外の世界と結ばれてきた港町の歴史を物語るとともに、二つの周縁的な土地を結ぶ対話の出発点となる。

At a time of algorithmic universalism, what does it mean to think and create from the periphery? This series of exhibitions, talks, and workshops brings together media art, craft, and DIY practice to examine the entangled histories that shape technology, as well as how it is experienced, reappropriated, and reimagined from various localities. Cyprus and Japan-based practitioners explore unlikely (post)colonial parallels between the two countries, as well as what insights the non-binary and in-betweenness can offer when thinking about technology today.

The North Canal district of Otaru holds numerous traces left by the movement of people, goods, and industry: disused railway lines, warehouses, port infrastructure. These traces not only tell the story of a port city shaped by connections across the sea, but also provide a point of departure for a dialogue between two peripheral places.
